Follitropin Subunit β (FSHB) is a secreted protein that belongs to the glycoprotein hormones subunit β family. The pituitary glycoprotein hormone family includes follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, chorionic gonadotropin, and thyroid-stimulating hormone. FSHB exists in a heterodimer of a common α chain and an unique β chain that confers biological specificity to thyrotropin, lutropin, follitropin, and gonadotropin. FSHB stimulates development of follicle and spermatogenesis in the reproductive organs. Defects in FSHB are a cause of isolated follicle-stimulating hormone deficiency (IFSHD).

Folate receptor alpha(FOLR) belongs to the folate receptor family; and is primarily expressed in tissues of epithelial origin. It is also expressed in kidney; lung and cerebellum. The secreted form is derived from the membrane-bound form either by cleavage of the GPI anchor; or/and by proteolysis catalyzed by a metalloprotease. FOLR1 binds to folate and reduced folic acid derivatives and mediates delivery of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate and folate analogs into the interior of cells. It has high affinity for folate and folic acid analogs at neutral pH. Exposure to slightly acidic pH after receptor endocytosis triggers a conformation change that strongly reduces its affinity for folates and mediates their release. It is required for normal embryonic development and normal cell proliferation.

Folate receptor beta, also known as Folate receptor 2, FBP, and FOLR2, is a member of the folate receptor family. FOLR2 is expressed in placenta and hematopoietic cells. The expression of FOLR2 is increased in malignant tissues. Members of the Folate receptor family members (FOLRs) have a high affinity for folic acid and for several reduced folic acid derivatives. They mediate the delivery of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate to the interior of, out of within, or between cells in a process known as potocytosis. FOLR2 has a 68% and 79% sequence homology with the FOLR1 and FOLR3 proteins, respectively. The FOLR2 protein was originally thought to exist only in placenta, but is also detected in spleen, bone marrow, and thymus. FOLR2 is a marker for macrophages generated in the presence of M-CSF, but not GM-CSF. Its expression correlates with increased folate uptake ability. Folate conjugates of therapeutic drugs are a potential immunotherapy tool to target tumor-associated macrophages.

Frataxin intermediate form can cleave by mitochondrial processing peptidase(MPP) to the mature frataxin. Frataxin is a nuclear-encoded mitochondrial protein highly conserved in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Its deficiency was initially described as the phenotype of Friedreich's ataxia, an autosomal recessive disease in humans. Although several functions have been described for frataxin, that is, involvement in Fe-S cluster and heme synthesis, energy conversion and oxidative phosphorylation, iron handling and response to oxidative damage, its precise function remains unclear. Although there is a general consensus on the participation of frataxin in the maintenance of cellular iron homeostasis and in iron metabolism, this protein may have other specific functions in different tissues and organisms.

Frizzled-10, also known as Fz-10, CD350 and FZD10, is a multi-pass membrane protein which belongs to theG-protein coupled receptor Fz/Smo family. Frizzled-10 / FZD10 is abundantly expressed in the cerebellum, followed by cerebral cortex, medulla and spinal cord; very low levels in total brain, frontal lobe, temporal lobe and putamen. It is weakly expressed in adult brain, heart, lung, skeletal muscle, pancreas, spleen and prostate. Frizzled-10 / FZD10 is a receptor for Wnt proteins. Most of frizzled receptors are coupled to the beta-catenin canonical signaling pathway, which leads to the activation of disheveled proteins, inhibition of GSK-3 kinase, nuclear accumulation of beta-catenin and activation of Wnt target genes. A second signaling pathway involving PKC and calcium fluxes has been seen for some family members, it is not yet clear if it represents a distinct pathway or if it can be integrated in the canonical pathway, as PKC seems to be required for Wnt-mediated inactivation of GSK-3 kinase. Both pathways seem to involve interactions with G-proteins. Frizzled-10 / FZD10 may also be involved in transduction and intercellular transmission of polarity information during tissue morphogenesis and/or in differentiated tissues.

This gene is a member of the frizzled gene family. Members of this family encode seven-transmembrane domain proteins that are receptors for the Wingless type MMTV integration site family of signaling proteins. Most frizzled receptors are coupled to the beta-catenin canonical signaling pathway. This protein may play a role as a positive regulator of the Wingless type MMTV integration site signaling pathway. A transcript variant retaining intronic sequence and encoding a shorter isoform has been described; however; its expression is not supported by other experimental evidence.

Wnt signaling is involved in a variety of embryonic development processes of nonvertebrates and vertebrates, where it determines cell motility, cell polarity, differentiation, proliferation and apoptosis, as well as formation of neural synapses. Various homologs of the Wingless protein, termed WNT factors, represent key mediators and act through a receptor complex comprised of members of the Frizzled and low density lipoprotein-related receptors (LRP). 19 WNTs, 10 Frizzled, and 2 LRP proteins have been identified. Frizzled is a family of G protein-coupled receptor proteins consisting of a divergent signal peptide, a highly conserved extracellular cysteine-rich domain (CRD), a variable-length linker region, a seven-pass transmembrane domain, and a variable-length C-terminal tail.Frizzled 5 (FZD5) is believed to be the receptor for the Wnt5A ligand, and also interactions with Wnt10B, Wnt2B, and Wnt 7A functionally. Recent studies of WNT5A/Frizzled-5 signaling have revealed an unexpected and novel role in orchestrating adaptive immunity in response to microbial stimulation. In addition, FZD5 is also implicated in the survival of mature neurons in the parafascicular nucleus of the thalamus.
